What is the Gateway Readers Award?
Each year, a committee within the Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) selects a list of about 75 books that are of interest to high school students. That committee narrows the list to 25 titles, and then a broader group of Missouri high school students, teachers, and parents reads those 25 books to vote on the final 15 which are nominated for the annual award. High school students in Missouri who read at least three of the 15 nominated books can vote for their favorite in March. The book which receives the most votes in state-wide voting is declared that year’s winner!
