Broncos READ is Lee's Summit North's school-wide literacy program. Begun in 2019 to connect students and staff through books, we are now in our third different era (see examples of the first two at the bottom of the page).
For 2025-2026, teachers are on one (or more) of 15 different book 'teams.' The LMC has multiple copies of each book for any student or staff to check out and read on their own.
Broncos Read is a great way for students to both find something fun to read and to talk with their teachers about more than their subject area. For teachers it's a way to get to know students a little bit better than just through classwork.
The idea is simple: Pick one of the 15 books, either because the book looks good or because one or more of your teachers are reading it. Talk to your teachers about it as you read it, or when you're done. You can find print copies of all titles on the big display in the LMC.
You can also check out most of these titles through Sora as an eBook or audio book! (student login=ID#, pass=FIRST INITIAL last initial ID#)
Scroll over each image for the title and author of the book
There are 80 Lee's Summit North teachers and staff members participating in Broncos Read! Here are a few examples of the posters. Each staff member has a poster for each book they are reading. Look for the posters around their classrooms, and check the team cards above to see what staff member is on what team!
