Gateway & Dogwood Awards

Each year the Missouri Association of School Librarians nominates 15 of the best young adult books for the Gateway Readers Award.

Missouri high school students who read at least three titles can vote for the winner in early March. To qualify for voting at LSN, add the book club course through Schoology (WQGT8 – 7KTNT) and look in assignments to take a 10-question quiz over any of the Gateway books. Pass three Gateway quizzes to get an invitation to the pizza voting party. Pass all 15 quizzes and earn the patch for your letterjacket.

Below are links to YouTube playlists for books on the Gateway Readers Award lists dating back to 2007, as well as the poster Mr. Russell created for each year's nominees.

You can also help select the books that are on the final Gateway list. See our Book Club page and look under the State Qualifier Varsity Letter (middle column, bottom) for details.

In 2021, we genrified our fiction section, and therefore added genre locations to the Gateway posters. From 2021-present there are two versions of the poster here, one for LSN, one for anyone else (without the labels). For larger poster-size files, contact michael.russell@lsr7.net
